![]() ![]() ![]() Hard to believe those things don't have some sort of protection for a sudden stop like that. As soon as it happened, I let off the trigger, but the smoke was already coming out of the motor. Knowing it was going to pinch, I cut a wedge out of the top not thinking it couldn't hinge that way, and wound up at the very end of the bottom cut getting the bar pinched as soon as it flexed. Not a huge tree, saw could reach through it. The rootwad was still deep enough I couldn't get it broken loose with a tractor, and it wasn't worth walking the dozer that far to go after, so I planned to cut it a couple feet up from the wad and then hook a chain to it and drag it off of the other tree and out of the way. The kids ride back and forth through there and I could just see the branch it was resting on giving way, so I wanted to get it down. Had a heavy wind rootwad a tree into another tree so it was angling over a roadbed back to a hayfield. Hadn't even used enough for the chain to need sharpening, in reality, probably never used it enough to exhaust a battery in total. Bought about a year and a half ago for the rare occurrence of a tree across the road or on a fence and just need to grab something quick for one or two cuts and not have to mess with mixing gas or a saw that won't start, etc. Posted 15:16 (#10332363) Subject: Guess some brushless motors aren't all they're cracked up to beĭeWalt 60V chainsaw.
